The Illinois Arts Council has awarded Jason Messinger an Individual Artist Support Initiative Artist Project Grant of $2,000, to be dispersed in the near future. This grant will specifically help support finance the costs of shipping for his recent solo show of tile murals and sculpture at the Goggle Works Center for the Arts, in Pennsylvania.

Artists Jason Messinger and Gail Wolf join Public Arts Curator Allyson Murphy to discuss their artwork commissions created for the Chicago Public Library’s Austin-Irving Branch location, and discuss their careers as artists in Chicago. Jason Messinger will be focusing on his two large murals; “Alice” and “Letterfied”. This event is free and open to the public.

Cover Art for “Tasting Our World” fundraising cookbook 
Jason Messinger has been asked to donate the use of his artwork for the cover of the new cookbook, “Tasting Our World – Recipes from the Berks County Jewish Community, a fundraising cookbook to support the work of the human services program Jewish Family Service of the Reading Jewish Federation. Profits from the project will go to help families in need, the elderly and at-risk populations, and will help support a monthly food bank program that helps to feed one of Reading’s poorest communities.
