Artists’ Atlas Early Holiday Party
Saturday, November 17, 12 - 2 pm
Join
the nine artists of the Artists' Atlas show for the holiday party at
this enormous show of art and gifts, inspired by maps, memory and
identity. The local artists include Kass Copeland, Deanna Krueger, Alan
Emerson Hicks, Jason Messinger, Matt Nichols, Emily Rapport, Jordan
Scott, Marya Veeck and Joey Wozniak. Artists will be on hand to talk
about their artwork, in this fun early-holiday Saturday shopping event.
The
artists utilize materials as varied as paint, ink, canvas, paper, wood,
ceramic, photographs, prints, text, found objects, plastic packaging,
historical images, star charts, recycled medical diagnostic film, and
cancelled postage stamps. By mapping places, charting memories, and
tracing the elements of identity, the nine artists present a visual
atlas of our interior worlds.
The State Street Gallery is
prominently located at the corner of Van Buren and State Street, at 401
South State Street, Chicago. The show runs through Thursday December
20th, 2018. Normal gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, from 10am
to 6pm. The gallery is free and open to the viewing public. All artwork
is available for sale. Artist-designed gifts and prints also available
in the ‘Art Mart’ gift shop. You can visit the Artists’ Atlas website at
Crazy8Art.com, and contact the gallery directly at (312)935-4088.

Wash Away the Everyday With Art
Pablo
Picasso said “Art washes away from the soul the dust of the everyday.”
The Cornelia Art Building invites the public to ‘wash away the everyday’
in a festive holiday reception.
Visit two stories of working art
studios in one of the largest all artist studio buildings on Chicago's
Northside. Meet many of the building’s talented artists and artisans in
person, plus guest lobby artists: Ellen Holtzblatt and Joan Geary,
explore their art practices up close, and enjoy the opportunity to
purchase artwork and hand-made crafts directly from the people who made
them.
For thirty-two years this artist incubator space has
provided Chicago artists with professional studio spaces to pursue their
craft. Over fifty local artists and artisans work here, including
sculptors, painters, photographers, ceramic artists, print-makers,
jewelry designers, textile artisans, and much more. With one-of-a-kind
hand-made artwork and gifts the event offers something for the whole
family to enjoy.
Established in 1986 in a former ice-house, the
Cornelia Arts Building is located at 1800 West Cornelia, at the border
of three distinct Chicago Neighborhoods; Lakeview, Roscoe Village, and
North Center. Located close to public transportation and only two blocks
south of the Addison Brown Line CTA stop, the building also has free
parking available in parking lot out front, and on neighborhood streets
nearby. Event is free and open to the public.
