and "Urbs In Horto"show
Friday, May 21, 6 - 10 pm
Friday, May 21, 6 - 10 pm
Saturday, May 22, 11 - 3 pm (limited # artists open)
Jason Messinger and other resident artists invite the public to the
Cornelia Arts Building May Open House,
on Friday, May 21, from 6 to 10 pm
featuring the artwork of over 35 artist and artisan in their own working studios. Artwork is for sale and includes paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, print making, ceramics, mixed media, apparel, and jewelry. Open House events are a great opportunity to engage with artists in their working studios and view up-and-coming talent as well as more established arts professionals. Convenient to the CTA - two blocks from Brown Line Addison stop. Free parking is available in front of building and near by.
An additional special feature of this building-wide open-house event is
"Urbs in Horto" - local artists inspired by the City in a Garden
a curated hallway exhibit featuring resident artists' interpretation of the City of Chicago's official Latin motto. This first floor hallway show of paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, and other artwork leads into two full floors of artists in their working art studios.
Jason Messinger will be showing new original tile murals. All tiles are available individually, rather than only as larger sets, repeating the great success of his recent solo show at the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts. Besides new art tiles, the artist is introducing new modestly priced gifts, including new playing card sets, postage stamps, and posters. Also on view are Jason Messinger's drawings, paintings in watercolor and ink, and sculpture.
On Saturday May 22, from 11 am to 3 pm,
a limited number of artists will also be open for the
"Second Chance Open House" including the studio of Jason Messinger, showing Joey Wozniak.

Additionally, Jason Messinger inaugurates his new "Featured Guest Artist" spot with local celebrity artist Joey Wozniak, who's oil paintings have been a draw for many of Mr. Messinger's curated art shows, including the highly celebrated Crazy 8 show. Joey Wozniak will be showing new oil paintings in his signature style using thickly-applied and scrapped paints in combination with hand-stenciled imagery.
