Spring into 2020 with the working
artists at the Cornelia Arts Building March Open House
On Friday March 6th, 2020,
from 6 to 10 pm, Jason Messinger and the other artists of The Cornelia Art Building, located at 1800 West
Cornelia Ave. in Chicago, invite the public to their first
open house of the year and to visit their working art studio spaces.
Visit one of the
largest all-artist buildings on Chicago’s North side, and experience two-full
floors of working art studios.
With one-of-a-kind artwork and special
artisan-made gifts by both the building artists and their special guest lobby
artists Sofia Ansaldo and Jessica Fraser, the event offers something for the
whole family to enjoy.
For thirty-four years this
artist incubator space has provided Chicago artists with professional studio
spaces to pursue their passion.
Sixty local artists and artisans
work here, including painters, sculptors, photographers, ceramic artists,
print-makers, jewelry designers, textile artisans, and much more.
Visitors to the Open
House can meet the building’s talented artists and artisans in person,
explore their art practices up close, and enjoy the opportunity to purchase
artwork and hand-made crafts directly from the people who made them.
Established in 1986 in a former ice-house, the Cornelia Arts
Building is located at 1800 West Cornelia, at the border of three distinct
Chicago Neighborhoods; Lakeview, Roscoe Village, and North Center.
Located
close to public transportation and only two blocks south of the Addison Brown
Line CTA stop, the building also has free parking available in parking lot out
front, and on neighborhood streets nearby. Event is free and open to the public.
